You need to have done 4 ocean passages as skipper, have sailed at least 50,000nm and be qualified to at least RYA Yachtmaster Ocean commercial. You also need to be a competent engineer. You must be prepared to work under our detailed Codes of Practice. Please send your C.V. (resume) to Chris Bone and subscribe to our skippers mailing list here. Crew We are a busy company constantly looking for good crew. Crew need to read the following instructions carefully. I get many applications from crew and only accept crew into our database who apply in the manner prescribed below. To be eligible for any of our positions you MUST email us your C.V. (resume). I only want your C.V. at this stage and will ask for supporting documents later if I need them. Use a MS WORD.DOC and name it with your surname. I.E. "Smith J.doc" I have to have your C.V. as it is often a requirement of Insurance companies. Please ensure you name your C.V. as requested. I have hundreds on file and must be able to search through them as efficiently as possible. Do not subscribe to the Pacific Yacht Deliveries crew mailing list (top of page) without sending me your up to date C.V. in the manner described. Terms for crew. Please read and understand these terms. Unfortunately yacht delivery is very price competitive and there are many people out there who we have to compete with who do the occasional delivery for a cheap holiday etc. Skippers who work for Pacific Yacht Deliveries are paid a fair wage but on most deliveries we do not pay any wages for crew. Exceptions are where we are delivering a large yacht and the insurance company requires us to use qualified crew. In this case we negotiate on a case by case basis. We always pay all on-board expenses at sea I.E. food. We do not pay for meals out during preparation or at mid way ports but your skipper will often buy crew a celebration drink and dinner at the end of the trip. Flights are usually the crew's responsibility but again we are be able to negotiate. If you need your flights paid for please make this clear when you apply to us. If you are inexperienced and want to come along on a delivery to gain sea time we are happy to consider this but you will have to cover all your own expenses. Crew who sail with us are required to sign a Crew Agreement prior to departure. If you are interested in marine conservation or humanitarian aid please say so in your covering email when you send your C.V. (Resume). Members of www.oceanswatch.org always get first refusal for crewing positions. |
